We're starting to see the effects of this long-term campaign

Overnight Ukraine struck two more oil refineries in Russia which might seem pretty normal at this point but according to a new assessment in the Wall Street Journal, the costs are really starting to add up.

We also just had Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visit Moscow and Kyiv in a new push for peace. From what we can tell, the talks seem to have gone well, and it’s notable these two visited Ukraine at all. However, there’s no indication there’s going to be any major changes anytime soon.

Iran has announced plans for a new EXCLUSION ZONE near the Strait of Hormuz as tensions with the United States escalate again. But can Iran actually enforce its new red line against the U.S. Navy?
In today's Max Afterburner, we break down the latest breaking news from Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, recent CENTCOM operations, Iranian threats against American forces and the growing confrontation over one of the world's most strategically important waterways.
As a former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, I'll break down two hero platforms that could be critical in a contested Persian Gulf: the F-35 Lightning II and E-2D Advanced Hawkeye. We look at stealth, sensor fusion, airborne early warning, command-and-control, carrier aviation and why the American carrier strike group operates as an integrated combat system.
Then in the Global Roundup, we're looking at the latest Zelensky-Witkoff-Kushner Ukraine peace talks, a viral confrontation from Italy, and fascinating footage involving police and drone technology.
Topics: Iran exclusion zone, Strait of Hormuz, Iran breaking news, IRGC, U.S. Navy, CENTCOM, U.S. military, F-35, F-35C, E-2D Hawkeye, aircraft carrier, carrier strike group, Persian Gulf, Iran military, fighter pilot reacts, military aviation, Ukraine peace talks, Zelensky, Witkoff, Kushner, police drones, Max Afterburner.

Russian soldiers on assault don't last long

Last week the CIA director said the average life expectancy for a Russian soldier on the battlefield is just 20-30 minutes. Which is crazy but also not true. I mean they don’t last long, especially once they’re pushed out on assault, which one Russian referred to as a one way trip, but even then, 20 minutes is a bit of a stretch.

This could get pretty messy pretty fast

This update is as of 0900 CDT, 08SEPT2026.

Looks like the Yemen Civil War is back to full scale fighting as the Houthis kicked off an offensive in the south and launched missiles into Saudi Arabia leading the Yemeni government to counterattack saying they plan to wipe out the Houthis once and for all.

Iran reportedly damaged eight U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagles and an A-10 during a ballistic missile attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan — and hours later mysterious explosions were reported across Iran's southern coastline near Sirik, Minab and Qeshm Island along the Strait of Hormuz. Former F-15E Strike Eagle and Thunderbird pilot Max Afterburner breaks down what may have been targeted, how the U.S. military kill chain works, and why radar, command-and-control and maritime infrastructure matter as much as the weapons themselves.
