On September 25, I examine reports of a large Ukrainian long-range drone operation across Russia, including fires at Lukoil’s Perm oil refinery—some 1,500 kilometers from Ukraine—and strikes on the Iskra electronics plant in Ulyanovsk. Iskra is reportedly tied to semiconductor components for Kh-59 missiles, Pantsir air defenses, radar, and communications equipment. Reported targets also included the Novoshakhtinsk refinery, a synthetic-rubber facility in Voronezh, a logistics site in occupied Luhansk, and two radar stations in Rostov.
I compare this dispersed strike pattern with Russia’s overnight drone and missile attacks on Ukraine, including the deadly strike on a Kyiv residential high-rise and reported casualties in Kharkiv Oblast. I also assess airport disruptions, air-defense pressure, the earlier Kuibyshev refinery damage, and Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian logistics on the Zaporizhzhia front. The strategic issue is whether repeated, clustered drone raids can impose sustained costs on Russia’s oil, defense-industrial, and logistics networks.

Ukraine is mourning after a devastating day of Russian strikes. In Kryvyi Rih, the confirmed toll from the attack on a shopping mall rose to 15 killed and 130 injured, including 23 children. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack and said Ukraine will respond.
The violence extended beyond Kryvyi Rih. A drone struck a minibus in Zaporizhzhia, while a Shahed attack on a multipurpose building in Tokarivka in the Mykolaiv region killed four people, including three boys. Against that backdrop, Ukraine also revealed the first batch of the Alexa Spatium interceptor drone—a mobile, turbojet-powered system designed to counter Russian kamikaze and Shahed-type drones and capable of returning for reuse if an interception is unsuccessful.
The video also examines new signs of pressure inside Russia: testimony that two military-age men were prevented from leaving the country despite having valid documents, and a Russian frontline soldier describing the horror of missions where five men are sent out and only one returns. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has issued one of Ukraine’s most direct warnings yet about the growing danger inside Russian airspace: the “safe days for Russia’s skies are over.” Zelenskyy says Ukraine is not threatening civilian aviation, but warns that increasing Ukrainian drone and missile operations against Russian military targets and the war economy are making Russian airspace increasingly unsafe.
The warning comes alongside a broader escalation in rhetoric between Kyiv and Moscow. Zelenskyy said the United States asked Ukraine to refrain from strikes on Moscow and St. Petersburg from August 25–27, a request Ukraine complied with while Russian attacks continued. Kyrylo Budanov reinforced Zelenskyy’s warning, saying Ukraine will deliver a harsh and proportionate response and that international airlines, insurers, and partners should recognize the new reality in Russian airspace.
Vladimir Putin responded by calling Zelenskyy’s warning a declaration of “state terrorism” and said Russia would respond if a tragedy occurred. Putin also claimed Ukrainian attacks had targeted three Russian nuclear power plants and announced orders for massive strikes against Ukraine’s energy facilities and infrastructure.
